Volunteers and Committees

It takes many working alongside the administration, faculty and staff at our school, to maintain the quality of education our children receive and what we have come to expect at Fairway Elementary School. A list of Committees, including a brief description of each, is given below. Please consider serving on at least one Committee at Fairway. SCHOOL SUPPORT

This committee works together to set up a schedule in which volunteers do photocopying for the faculty/staff throughout the year on a weekly or twice/monthly time frame established by your schedule.

GARDENING/GROUNDSKEEPING

Volunteers will assist with maintaining the plants and landscaping on school grounds on a scheduled basis. 

GOT YOUR BACKPACK

Meets weekly in the Fairway food pantry to fill backpacks for Rockwood's weekend food program. 

NEW STUDENT WELCOME

Help to welcome families who move into our community during the school year. 

OFFICE HELPERS

Volunteers will be contacted to help assist whenever Fairway needs help with things like Picture Day, Vision Screenings or whenever other committees need support.

PE HELPERS

Volunteers will help with PE events throughout the year such as Pumpkin Run, Jump Rope for Heart and Field Day.

SCHOOL DECORATING

Volunteers for this committee will assist with decorations for school events and activities throughout the school year.

STAFF APPRECIATION

This committee works together to provide special treats and meals for Fairway staff throughout the school year. 

WELCOME CENTER

Maintains this new multipurpose room by organizing resources and shelving books. 

ADULT-ONLY FUNDRAISING EVENT/SILENT AUCTION

Plans and coordinates the adult-only, off-site event as a PTO fundraiser. Past events include Trivia Night, Dueling Piano events, and theme nights.  

FAIRWAY FAMILY FUN NIGHTS

Plans, organizes, and runs schoolwide events held in the evening on the playground 2-3 times a year. 

FAIRWAY FUN RUN

Works together to plan and work our annual Fairway Fun Run day in April.

FIFTH GRADE CELEBRATION 

Works with 5th grade teachers and students to plan, organize and staff the end of year celebration activities. Other duties include ordering the 5th grade t-shirts and creating a slideshow of the students during their time at Fairway. This committee runs all year long depending on the subcommittee. 

GLOW BINGO NIGHT

Plans and staffs the annual family Glow Bingo event. 

GRANDPARENTS & GRANDFRIENDS APPRECIATION

Plans at at-home activity for students to complete with their grandparents or Grandfriends in the month of November to recognize these special people in our students' lives. Organizes a display in the Fairway lobby to showcase what the students have made with their Grandparents/Grandfriends. 

READING WEEK

Assists with planning and execution of Reading Week Activities. 

TRUNK OR TREAT

Plan this family-oriented event at Fairway in late October as a PTO fundraiser. Volunteers will setup, tear down, help with check-in and keep the event safe and fun.

VARIETY SHOW

This committee works together to run two after-school auditions at the end of January, collect and create an audio-visual media package for the performance, decorate the gym, serve as MC and provide backstage management for tech rehearsal and performance night. 

YEARBOOK

This committee photographs classroom activities and school events and sends photographs to the office for potential usage in the yearbook.
