Volunteers and Committees
It takes many working alongside the administration, faculty and staff at our school, to maintain the quality of education our children receive and what we have come to expect at Fairway Elementary School. A list of Committees, including a brief description of each, is given below. Please consider serving on at least one Committee at Fairway.
Volunteer Opportunities
TEACHER SNACK CART: Donate money for snacks to support our teachers and staff or purchase directly from the Amazon Wish List!
ADULTS-ONLY FUNDRAISER: Plans and coordinates this adult-only, off-site event as a PTO fundraiser in the Spring semester
FAIRWAY FUN RUN: Assists with planning and running the Great Pumpkin Fun Run day in the Fall semester
FAMILY FUN NIGHTS: Plans and organizes family fun events that occur 2-3 times a year. These events could include an outdoor movie night, a fun night on the playground, or a food truck event
FIFTH GRADE CELEBRATION: Starts in October working with 5th grade teachers and students to plan, organize and run the celebration activities for the end of the year
GLOW BINGO: Plans and runs the annual family Bingo Night in the Spring semester
GOT YOUR BACKPACK: Organized through the Rockwood Gives Back Program volunteers meet weekly in the Fairway food pantry to fill backpacks for Rockwood’s weekend food program (for more information, email rockwoodgybp@rsdmo.org)
GRAND FRIENDS / EAT WITH YOUR EAGLE: Assist in planning Grand friends Day (week of Thanksgiving) and monthly Eat With Your Eagle birthday celebration events throughout the year
GROUNDSKEEPING: Assists with maintaining the landscaping of the school grounds
GROW GETTERS GARDEN VOLUNTEERS: Our garden volunteers help to maintain our garden and participate in student learning experiences throughout the year, plans Earth Day Celebration in the Spring.
OFFICE HELPERS: Assists in serving the needs of the school for special days such as Hearing Screening, Vision Screening, and Picture Day.
PTO PRINT & COPY CREW: Assist the PTO on an as-needed basis to print event flyers and distribute to student mailboxes (short 1-hour training for new members)
READING WEEK: Assists with planning and execution of Reading Week Activities
SCHOOL DECORATING: Works together to assist with decorating for events and maintain school bulletin boards and campus beautification throughout the year.
STAFF APPRECIATION: Works together to organize special treats for the staff throughout the school year as well as providing dinners for the staff during parent/teacher conferences.
TRUNK OR TREAT: Works together to plan this family-oriented event at Fairway in late October as a PTO fundraiser.
VARIETY SHOW: Works together to plan and staff the Spring Variety Show.
YEARBOOK PHOTOGRAPHY: Photographs classroom activities and school events throughout the year and shares them with the yearbook committee.
