Fairway Elementary PTO Executive Board Meeting Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, October 3, 2023, 6:30 – 8:15 PM

 

Attendance: Lisa Israel, Anna King, Jeanne Flowers, Trish Svendsen, Elise Herries, Jill Grogan, Michelle Dockler, Alicia Burke, Lorinda Krey, Jason Sinden

Special Presentation – Prop 3: Lorinda Krey

  • Zero Tax Rate Increase – reallocate tax dollars from debt service to capital projects

  • Rockwood School District is one of the highest-performing school districts in the country

  • Forbes List of Best in State Employers

  • Let’s get back to Focus on our Future

  • Rockwood earns AAA Rating since 2007

  • 2017 Bond Issue Projects came in on time and under budget

    • These funds are depleted

  • Two funding options for Missouri Schools

    • General obligation bonds (long-term debt)

      • Typically rely on

    • Dedicated operational tax levy in the Capital Fund

  • HVAC systems

    • Average life span 15-20 years

  • What if Prop 3 doesn’t pass?

    • We’ll still need to fund annual safety, technology and facility needs

      • We’d have to return to voters with a bond issue which will incur interest
