Dear Prospective Fairway Family Members,
Welcome to Fairway Elementary, better known as the Fairway FAMILY! You will find our warm and welcoming school to be a dynamic, powerful place where children and adults learn and grow together.
Our students, with support from all Fairway family stakeholders, will actively participate in a progressive, quality education within a safe environment which embraces and develops the unique abilities of all learners, empowering them to achieve their full potential while becoming citizens of exemplary character who positively impact our evolving society.
It is Fairway’s mission to provide a safe, nurturing community in which all members are challenged to learn at high levels and find success. Our vision takes it a step further as we strive to develop cooperative, life-long learners who embrace diversity and demonstrate grit, empathy, integrity, and self-control; otherwise known as our “Fairway Five!”
Our brilliant, talented and compassionate Fairway staff have worked hard to capture a set of agreed-upon “Collective Commitments” which showcase their dedication to a world-class education for all students in their care. We hold the following “Collective Commitments” as our gold star standards:
I will be a positive collaborator who contributes to Fairway for ALL students.
I will identify and teach the essential learning in alignment with the district curriculum.
I will monitor each student’s learning on an ongoing basis through classroom and team-developed common formative assessments to guide instruction.
I will teach appropriate individual, small-group, or whole class instruction using a variety of instructional strategies based on the needs of students.
I will engage in relevant, job-embedded professional development in order to learn the most promising practices to support student learning.
I will provide parents with resources, strategies, and information to help students succeed.
While being honored as a National Blue Ribbon and Missouri Gold Star School (2016) for our academic success; our most coveted and meaningful honor came in 2022 as we earned the distinction of being named a National and Missouri School of Character. Because “WHO you are is more important than WHAT you know.” This principle forms the basis of the book The Formative Five (Thomas R. Hoerr) and what has inspired and continues to define us as the Fairway Family.
